Housing Scheme receives award for its 'extra care'

A housing scheme in Blackwood has won a national award for enabling independent living.

Cefn Glas Extra Care housing scheme is designed to give older people the friendly atmosphere of a traditional neighbourhood whilst providing them with 24-hour specialist care.

It was awarded 'Best Independent Living Scheme' in the national Healthcare Design Awards, organised by specialist healthcare consultancy Pinders and Care Business magazine.

The 42-flat facility was created by housing agent Fairlake Properties and Caerphilly council.
