The art of enterprise on show

South Wales Argus: 20 February 2007

ENTERPRISE evenings giving artists the chance to display and sell their work have been launched in Newport.

The Stow Hill Access Resource & Enterprise (SHARE) Centre, a community partnership project, launched the weekly enterprise evenings on Friday.

The city resource centre is jointly funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Local Regeneration Fund in association with Newport City Council; local groups and community organisations.

The centre, which was opened last October, aims to engage the local community.

It offers residents business facilities like meeting and activity rooms, a hall and IT suites.

The enterprise scheme started with a six-week exhibition by Newport-based urban professional photographer Mansel Davies.

His display, called In a Different Light, depicts his 'positive vision of Newport city's landscape'. The 46 year-old said: “I'm delighted to be participating in such an event and to be associated with the SHARE Centre as it focuses strongly on promoting enterprise within the local community.”
