Successful anti-social behaviour conference - a first of its kind in Wales - held
Cartref: March/April 2006
Experts from around the UK attended a special conference, the brainchild of Charter Housing Association's Nuisance Prevention Team, to discuss how anti-social behaviour is being tackled across South Wales. Edwina Hart opened the conference and recognised the importance of the role that associations have to play in forming and managing Community Safety Partnerships – “Anti-social behaviour is not just a housing issue but social landlords can make an important contribution to tackling it.”
Ms Hard also spoke of future plans that WAG has in being committed to creating more sustainable and inclusive communities, where anti-social behaviour is taken seriously “The Welsh Assembly Government has set up and is funding four anti-social behaviour action area pilot projects in Neath, Cardiff, Pontypool and Newport, which will employ a wide range of measures to turn around communities that are in decline. We are also considering the UK Government's Respect agenda to determine if and how this might apply to Wales.”
