Based in Newport, 37 Hours per Week, £25,591 per annum

Maternity Cover 11th October 2010 – 9th September 2011

What is this job about?

The Tenant Participation Manager is responsible for implementing the Tenant Participation Strategy. Key to the role is developing good relationships with our tenants and encouraging their involvement in a range of opportunities designed to enable anyone to get involved at a time and level that suits them. We believe in taking a creative and non-traditional approach to Tenant Participation and are building a partnership approach with our tenants so that we can improve our services to them. Some of the things you will be responsible for are: organising fun days, developing our ‘Come Dine with Charter’ project, supporting our ‘Forward Together Panel’, developing our Time Banking project to reward involved tenants, supporting our disabled and older persons tenants groups, editing our tenant’s magazine and encouraging the involvement of tenants in our ‘Hot Topic’ areas such as the Environment, Health and Wellbeing and Managing Your Money. This is an interesting, exciting and enjoyable role and a very important one. We aim to place our tenants at the heart of everything we do and this role is key to that challenge.

What kind of person are we looking for?

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic person who either has experience of working in social housing, tenant participation or community development, or who is willing to learn. You will have experience of providing excellent customer service and the ability to develop good relationships with people. You will be a confident communicator, particularly face to face, or when addressing a large group of people. You will be a team worker who is able to fit into an existing team but also able to work on your own initiative. You will be able to build good relationships with other landlords and agencies, be flexible and able to work under pressure at times. You will be able to develop and manage projects through to completion and to encourage the involvement of other staff to help you achieve your goals. You will be organised and able to manage your time effectively to meet targets and deadlines. You must have good IT skills, be able to drive and have use of a car. A CRB check is essential for this role.

For this post, an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Criminal Records Bureau is required.

How do you apply?

Don’t be afraid to apply if you don’t have any experience, we are looking for people with the right personality and attitude, we can provide training if you need it. The application form can be downloaded from our website, www.charterhousing.co.uk, together with a copy of our current Tenant Participation Strategy.

Closing date for this post is noon on 13th August 2010.
