Updated planning policy focuses on tackling climate change
On Tuesday, 8 June the Environment and Housing Minister, Jane Davidson, met with Bob Hutchings, Group Chair and Darrell Bolton, Corporate Director, Fairlake and paid a visit to Mariner’s Quay, Wales’ newest and largest sustainable housing development located on Newport’s riverfront.

Sustainable homes at Mariner’s Quay
The largest sustainable new housing development in Wales received the official seal of approval from the Deputy Housing Minister, Jocelyn Davies, when she visited the site in Newport.

Creating Safer Neighbourhoods in Torfaen
Six social landlords and Torfaen County Borough Council have developed a protocol with Gwent Police to create safer neighbourhoods in Torfaen. Seren Group together with Bron Afon Community Housing, Hafod Housing, Linc Cymru, Melin Homes and Torfaen County Borough Council will work closely with Police to tackle a range of anti-social issues. Celebrating International Older Person’s Day
Charter Housing, part of the Seren Group, celebrated International Older Persons Day with a new fitness and wellbeing initiative for its senior tenants. Tenants living in Charter’s sheltered housing schemes across Newport were presented with a Nintendo Wii to encourage them to keep fit and active.
